A Little DIY

I saw this DIY on Pinterest and decided I had to make these for myself. This is the first DIY on my How Do I Make You Pinterest board that I have actually done, so I am really excited about that.  Here is my finished product!

This process was actually really easy. I picked up some embroidery thread at Michael’s in the color I wanted. In this case I wanted some muted, pretty, and feminine colors so I chose a light salmon and grey. Then I came home and knotted the embroidery thread around the headphones until I got to the bottom. I did notice that they are starting to come undone at the ends but I think I will add some glue to the ends or clear nail polish to keep it from going any further. I really liked this DIY and I encourage all of you to try it out! It’s a great way to keep regular headphones from being boring without breaking the bank.

Apparently I am really loving bright colors lately. I love listening to the rain and coming up with new projects. 🙂

A Little Out of the Ordinary

Tank top – L.O.L. Collection * Jeans – Abercrombie and Fitch * Shoes – Toms * Earrings – Claire’s

I didn’t have anyone to take my outfit pictures today so I took them myself. It isn’t ideal but it definitely works. This tank is another item for the clothing swap that my choir held. I definitely want to go to another one of those. Holler if you have one! This tank is perfect for summer since it is made out of such a light fabric and I can’t wait to wear it over a swimsuit. This week however it is raining and it doesn’t look like it’s going to stop anytime soon. Time to break out my extensive sweater collection! Yay!

Off to the Theatre

Sweater – Hurley (swapped) * Skirt – Charlotte Russe * Shoes – Target

My choir had a clothing swap last week and it was so much fun bringing clothes and then taking new ones home! It was like shopping for free. I got this sweater and a couple other items that you will probably be seeing at sometime or another. This skirt is also one of my favourite purchases. I got it at Charlotte Russe on sale for $5! I wore this outfit when I went to the theatre in town to see Guys and Dolls with a couple friends. (Hi ned and bert!) I threw on a coat over my sweater when it got dark but I didn’t really need it. It has been so warm lately! Today I am off to go take pictures for an event. It should be really fun and I am looking forward to it. Maybe I will share some favorites from the day.

Scottish Heritage Sunday

Dress – Chico’s * Scarf as belt – Scottish Treasures * Earrings – Claire’s * Shoes – Toms

Scottish Heritage Sunday is one of my favorite days of the year. Our church comes together and dresses up in kilts and tartans, eats haggis and shortbread, and celebrates our Scottish roots. We even have a bagpiper, which is my favorite part. I would love to have bagpipes at my wedding. The top picture is a picture of my parents and I all wearing the Smith tartan. My dad absolutely loves his kilt, and it is a joy to watch him and all the other men in our church who also wear kilts wear smiles on their faces as they fellowship with each other. It’s a nice reminder to remember where you come from.

Sorry that I have been absent for so long! My dad’s birthday was on Monday so we spent the entire weekend celebrating. Family came in to town, there was cake to be eaten, presents to wrap, food to be eaten, hence no blogging. But here is my weekly Pinterest inspiration!
